Executive Mayor
Introduction
As the Executive Mayor, I have a responsibility to ensure that I take the lead in the delivery of basic services to all our communities. The Community of Cederberg Municipality must be in a position to reflect and indeed be able to measure the impact that the municipality has had on improving their quality of life.
My duties as Executive Mayor include the following:
- Opening projects, civic functions, special events and new buildings
- Hosting and welcoming dignitaries to the municipality
- Advocating Council policy
- Representing the Council at civic events
- Leading/championing campaigns initiated by the Council
- Representing the Council during disasters
- Patron for local organizations on an invitation basis
- Interact directly with the Municipal Manager.
- Interact with staff members in consultation with the Municipal Manager.
In respect of Cederberg’s Mayoral Committee, I perform the following duties:
- Chair the meeting of the Mayoral Committee.
- Oversee the preparation of the Mayoral Committee Agenda.
- May delegate specific responsibilities or powers to members of the Mayoral Committee.
- Ensure compliance with the Law, including rules of order, during Mayoral Committee meetings.
